The History of
In Rock We
Trust Productions:
In Rock We Trust Productions is a small production company based out of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts that had an interesting beginning. Founder, Stefan LaPierre, decided to take on planning, promoting, and executing a rock concert with the proceeds going to charity as part of a High School Senior Project in 2007. Stefan had been a part of the Local Rock Festival Locobazooka for a few years along with his father (Bruce), and sister (Tiffany), and he not only enjoyed it but thought that perhaps he could replicate it on a smaller scale with the help of his family and friends. So Stefan put forth the idea to his teacher and the ball began rolling.
Originally he wanted to donate the proceeds to the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation and so he named his event “In Rock We Trust” trying to combine patriotism with Rock and Roll. After several attempts to reach the charity with no response he finally decided to work with a different one and so it turned out that the proceeds would be going to the Make A Wish Foundation. At seventeen, Stefan, held his first concert and as many “first” tries go, it was fun but not very successful… it was definitely a learning experience. The overall production/sound of the show was great but unfortunately the school didn’t get behind him and give him the support he needed and lots of the kids thought it was a joke so the turnout wasn’t very good. The people who did show up all had a great time though and Stefan realized that he wanted to do this again but that next time he needed more help.
So Stefan and Bruce put their heads together and decided to give a production company a shot. Stefan had the idea… the face and the heart of the “new young promoter” and Bruce had the experience, musical knowledge, and finances to begin their company. They set a date, chose a venue, and started planning the 2nd In Rock We Trust Productions event for 2008. Durring all this time they still helped out and worked on other shows (Locobazooka, Music for Middlesex, Warp’d Tour) making contacts and friends in the industry. The father and son team found sponsors and musicians to participate and their second concert attempt was more successful than the first but still had room for improvement.
Meanwhile each year after Locobazooka some of the staff would go to Costa Rica to relax and to celebrate a job well done. After a couple of visits, Bruce fell in love with the country and in that time he had made friends with lots of people in the rock community and had even brought a few back here to the states to perform and visit. Well it didn’t take long for the idea to take root to have a festival in Costa Rica, bringing bands from the States to play along side of Costa Rican bands. They found some support in Costa Rica and started the ball rolling once again… bands were excited to “ROCK THE RAINFOREST” and take a mini tour through a beautiful country. The show itself met with limited success but the experience was one to last a lifetime.
Well the following year Bruce was contacted by a rainforest activist who was planning to do a concert with similar intent to the one they had done the previous year. Rainforest Aid 09 was quite an undertaking as the entire show from top to bottom was green and eco-friendly. Bruce and Stefan provided the musical end of things for the 3 day festival including the sound and musicians and this time they were happy with the end results… not only was the concert a success but they had such a good time, made great friends, and each came away with a full heart knowing that what they had participated in was for a great cause. After working on Rainforest Aid 09 they both knew that they were on the right track… they were doing something that not only helped people but that felt good too.
